Our Governance

At Amplimity Indigenous Corporation, we are proud to operate as a registered Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation under the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC). Our organisation is also a registered Charity with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission (ACNC).

Amplimity is led by a Board of Directors and managed by our Co-CEOs, sharing leadership in a way that respects culture, community, and accountability to mob.

So, what does that actually mean?

It means we are:

  • Majority Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander governed, while welcoming Non-Indigenous Board members who bring strong skills and deep respect for our cultures.

  • Community-led and culturally grounded in everything we do.

  • Collaborative, not top down, we believe in walking together, not leading over others.

We follow a rule book that sets out how we make decisions, who can be a member, and how our Board works. This helps us stay fair, transparent, and culturally safe.

We report to:

  • ORIC
  • The ACNC
  • Our members and community, who we serve first and foremost.

Cultural Governance

At Amplimity, cultural governance means upholding the authority, identity, and self-determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to enabling our peoples to confidently walk in two worlds while staying grounded in the strength of culture, Country, and community.

We support our peoples to reconnect with culture, kin, and Country, while embedding cultural authority into all that we do. By amplifying community voices, advocating for change, and protecting what is sacred, we create strong foundations for current, and future generations to thrive and prosper.

Our Approach

  • Grounded in Culture
We recognise that organisational structures must reflect Indigenous values, community realities, and cultural legitimacy. Our leadership is shaped not only by compliance with external frameworks, but also by what our people consider culturally appropriate and effective.

  • Responsive to Community
While government policy and funding systems often demand accountability “upwards,” our governance prioritises accountability within community through open communication, transparency, and understanding.

  • Strength through Representation
Culturally legitimate leadership requires that our governance structures respect cultural authority and ways of exercising leadership, ensuring that decision making reflects the voices of our people and community.

  • Capacity and Growth
We invest in building strong governance systems through clear policies, rules, and cultural customs because these strengthen the effectiveness and legitimacy of the organisation.

  • Collective Voices
Strong leadership is not about individual power, but about bringing people together. Collective voices, collaboration, and cultural safety guide decisions we make.

  • Sustainable Outcomes
Governance capacity is central to achieving long-term healing, wellbeing, and sustainable outcomes for communities

  • Walking between worlds
We acknowledge that broader federal, state, regional, and community governance systems can either support or hinder Indigenous organisations. Amplimity works to bridge these spaces while always centring our cultural authority.

Amplimity Indigenous Corporation acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work, walk, and live.

We honour our Ancestors and Elders, past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. We recognise the deep spiritual and cultural connection to Country, waters, skies, and kin that has existed for tens of thousands of years and continues today.

We pay our respects to the strength, resilience, and wisdom of the communities, and extend our commitment to truth telling, cultural safety, and self-determination.
